Well, today’s the day – The Lift Up’s debut album, Without Dreams, We Are Only Sleeping, is now available digitally worldwide via mondotunes. Co-produced by the band and Grammy-nominated producer, Jim Salamone at Cambridge Sound Studios, the songs I’ve written on Without Dreams…alternate between aggressive, modern rock garage stompers and quiet moments of equally intense sonic reflection, all the while remaining short and to the point. Lyrically, the songs deal with the pressures of adult life, of trying to survive under the constant weight of one’s past. Nine quality tunes in 32 minutes.
And to celebrate, we’re playing a very special early show tonight at the Khyber Pass Pub in Philadelphia with Joey Sweeney and the Long Hair Arkestra (with former Situation alumni Jared Styles on bass) and Heyword Hawkins. The show starts at 8:30pm and we hit the stage at 9pm sharp. Five dollars gets you in the door. Come on, you know there’s nothing else keeping you in on a Tuesday night so brush the rust off and help us kick things off something proper. I hope to see you there.
In the meantime, please give the record a listen, which you can stream in it’s entirety on bandcamp, spotify and Rdio. And if you like it, please pick up a copy on iTunes, Amazon or bigcartel because we’d really love to make enough money record another one. And if you love it, please spread the word. We put a lot of time, sweat, love and money into this album – I sincerely hope you give it a chance.
