I was stoked to find a few copies of the new Seafang 7″ single (which I did the cover for) waiting for me in the mailbox this morning.  As some of you know, I go way back with Elephant Stone Records as they put out both releases from my former band, The Situation. To be honest, our band never really came through for the label as we disintegrated a few short months after finally releasing our debut LP, which Ben had to borrow money for to pay for the mixing and pressing. Between the financial strain and just the general sorry state of the music industry, the label went into hibernation sometime around 2007 so I was very excited when I heard that they were putting something out in 2016 and was sincerely honored to be asked to create the artwork for the record. Ben and Bella are the real deal, true believers in the spirit of rock and roll, and I owe them a lot.  Much respect to both of them.

The Seafang single is great but don’t take my word for it – check out the tunes here.  If you dig indie pop like The Primitives, Shop Assistants, JAMC, Best Coast, etc, then be sure to pick one up. The record officially drops July 29th.

Downtime interview with artist Joe Castro

Downtime: I was recently interviewed by the Sydney Collage Society about all things collage and art. Please check it out and be sure to follow them on all the various social media outlets.

Much respect to all the artists in the SCS and thanks for the love – hopefully I can make it down to Syndey one day.

Excerpt from the interview:

3) What do you love and hate about collage? I love the hunt, just spending hours lost within a stack of musty magazines searching for some random image to just grab me by the throat, while at the same time being constantly distracted by various articles and ads. Appliances just looked so much cooler in the 1950s.

I hate that the mainstream art world doesn’t take collage art very seriously (but we’re gonna change that).
