I found out at the last minute that NPR was hosting a  Tiny Desk contest, based on their popular live music series.  So, with the deadline less than 24 hours away, I quickly filmed this clip in the home studio one night with my iphone taped to a mic stand. The song is a new one I wrote, entitled Don’t Forget About Me.  Lyrics below.  Enjoy…

Don’t Forget About Me

(music/lyrics by Joe Castro. ©2018 mightyjoetunes)

don’t forget about me when the time comes to leave
you know you don’t owe me anything at all
one day you’ll see the measure of my loyalty
when the good times aren’t too shameful to recall

nothing left to hold you to the promises of those who
flaunted you like a well worn accessory
and it would be too naive, to think the good times would never cease
without you, they’re just an empty luxury

so when it’s time to go your way or there’s nothing left to say
cause your body language already said it all
don’t forget about me when the time comes to leave
just bow and take your final curtain call

I drizzled admiration at your every invitation
my dedication’s been fatally sincere
but if destiny pulls us on toward opposite horizons
Please let me be your souvenir…

how tragic would it be if someday you mysteriously
evaporated from my memory
but please rest assured, you’ll be remembered as so much more
then some everlasting acquaintance in custody

all those days I let you win, though my patience was paper thin
and our nights were drenched in sweat and alcohol
so don’t forget about me when the time comes to leave
you know you don’t owe me anything at all
